Nova by Beautify Junkyards is out now on LP, CD and Digital. Beautifully languid, dreamlike, psychedelic pop with some very special guest artists.
The hole left by the late Trish
Keenan's hauntologic pop project Broadcast feels greater and more profound
by the day. Unusually, the group who come closest to filling it is a band from
Lisbon. On Nova, Beautify Junkyards lean further into the sampleadelic,
accentuating their bleary psych with florid sound design and hallucinatory
textures.
UNCUT
This exceptional Portuguese cosmic folk outfit may be the best band
you’ve never heard of.... An enjoyable recording from this talented group.
Highly recommended!
The Big Takeover
...the more melodic end of the
'hauntological' genre scale with their mix of troplcalia, '60s pop
and warm synth tones
Mojo
Latin rhythms, electronic fizzles and melodies that flit like an elusive
butterfly, playfully refusing to be pinned down.
Electronic Sound
On their fifth studio album, Portuguese collective Beautify Junkyards delve
deeper into electronic abstraction and forge a sound that's richer, more
nuanced and enticing than ever before.
Shindig
The songs on the record have a siren-like effect, but rather than luring a
listener into danger, it’s more like an enrapturing ride through a window
into one’s own reveries.
It's Psychedelic Baby
Paul Weller sings and plays guitar on the co-written song, “Sister Moon”. Dorothy Moskowitz (of United States of America) co-wrote and sings on “Turn the Tide”. Jesse Chandler (of Pneumatic Tubes, Midlake and Mercury Rev) contributes flute on “Groundstar”
